We do not give trademark legal advice in-house. Trademark clearance, filing and enforcement are legal services — only a registered trade marks attorney or lawyer may advise on them — so that work is arranged by referral to an independent registered trade marks attorney. Our in-house work — brand & IP valuation, R&D tax and IP structuring, and commercialisation, licensing and royalty accounting — is delivered by Local Knowledge Pty Ltd under a signed engagement.
Valuation and advisory work provide a defensible, reasoned position based on the records, evidence and scope agreed — they are not a guarantee of a particular price, tax outcome or that a value will be accepted by every buyer, financier, auditor or regulator. A valuation is an opinion of value on a stated basis at a point in time, not a promise of what a transaction will realise.
The usefulness of any valuation, R&D claim or advice depends on the completeness and accuracy of the records and information you provide. You remain responsible for your own compliance obligations, including maintaining contemporaneous records and meeting lodgement deadlines, except to the extent expressly agreed in an engagement.
Our work is performed in accordance with the applicable professional and ethical standards. Where a conflict or a matter reserved to a registered trade marks attorney or lawyer arises, we will decline the work or arrange it independently rather than compromise that standard.
